Privacy Policy

Vishu Schools respects the privacy of its families and staff. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our mobile app or our administrative web panel, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate the app and the school.

• Account information — name, email address, role (parent, student, teacher, administrator), and a password. Accounts are created by the school administration and provided to you.
• Student records — admission number, grade, section, age, blood group, guardian contact details, native language, address (optional). These are entered by the school administration as part of enrolment.
• Operational data — attendance marks, fee payments, diary entries, announcements, weekly plans, and events, created by school administrators and teachers as part of their normal duties.
• Messages you send — concerns and chat messages you exchange with the class teacher, principal, or founder through the app. This content is visible to the staff member the conversation is addressed to and to school administrators.
• Device data — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token (used to send push notifications to your device) and basic device metadata Firebase provides automatically. We do not collect device contacts, location, or browsing history.

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and grant access to the appropriate features for your role.
• To provide school operations (attendance, fees, diary, etc.) to enrolled families and staff.
• To send notifications about school announcements and your child's activities.
• To respond to concerns or messages you submit through the app.

How We Store and Protect Your Information

Data is stored in Google's Firebase platform (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), which uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Access to the administrative panel is restricted to authenticated school administrators. Firestore security rules enforce role-based access on every read and write.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not show advertisements inside the app.
• We do not sell user data to third parties.
• We do not share data with marketing or analytics firms outside what Firebase needs to deliver core service.
• We do not collect precise location data.
• We do not use third-party tracking SDKs.

Third-Party Services

The app uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging) and Google Sign-In as essential infrastructure. These services are governed by Google's privacy policy.

Your Rights

• You may request a copy of the data we hold about you or your child.
• You may request correction of inaccurate data.
• You may request deletion of your account and associated data (see Data Deletion).

Children's Privacy

Most students at Vishu Schools are under the age of 13. The app is designed primarily for parents and teachers to manage information about young children, not for children themselves to use independently.

• Student accounts (where created) are administered by the school. Parents are kept informed of any account-related activity.
• We do not collect more information from or about children than is necessary to provide school services.
• We do not use children's information for marketing or advertising.
• Parents have the right to review their child's information and request changes or deletion at any time by contacting the school.

If you believe your child's information was added to the system without proper consent, please contact us immediately at the email below and we will investigate and remove it.

App Permissions

The Vishu Schools Android app requests the following permissions:

• Internet — to communicate with the school's Firebase server. Required for all features.
• Post Notifications (Android 13+) — to show announcements and reminders. You may decline; in-app notifications still work.
• Network State — to detect online/offline status so the app can queue actions for retry.

The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location, SMS, call logs, or storage. If a future feature requires any of these, we will update this page and ask you for consent first.

Data Deletion

To request deletion of an account and all associated personal data, please email vishupreschool@gmail.com from the registered email address with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Include the full name of the account holder (or, for a child, the admission number).

We will acknowledge your request within 7 working days and complete deletion within 30 days. Some records — such as fee receipts — may be retained in anonymised form for legal and auditing requirements.

Account holders can also ask the school office directly. We will verify identity before acting on any deletion request.
